What is your philosophy?
Is it play centered or educational centered? This is not a right or wrong situation but a matter of preference.
How do you discipline children?
What is the teacher/student ratio?
NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) requires 1:5 - 1:9 for 2 - 3 year olds\0121:8 - 1:10 for 4 year olds
Do you perform finger printing and background checks?
What training is required of your staff?
Ideally staff will have at least two years of college in early childhood development as well as first aid and CPR training. This may be state mandated with different requirements for teacher vs assistant.\012
How do you communicate with parents?
Do you have a: newsletter, website, list serve? Do you provide daily reports. Do you have web casts?
Can you describe the curriculum?
Some of the basics are: outdoor time, story time, music time, drama time, job time, art time.
Are trees green?
No right or wrong answer but may provide insight as to approach. Do trees have to be green or can they be pink when you are three? Take a look around the room. Does the art all look alike or were the kids allowed some self expression.
What is the cost?
