Can you tell me about your education, background and certifications?
You do want to make sure they are qualified to teach the subject matter and experienced with whatever issues are relevant, but don't forget to consider the less quantifiable. Your child must feel comfortable with this person- a PHD doesn't guarantee they'll be successful in dealing with your child.
Do you have a specialty?
Some tutors specialize in a particular subject, in a particular age/grade level or in a particular type of learning difference.
What is the length of a session and how often should you and my child meet?
