• How much experience have you had with this type of project?

• If you are doing an historical renovation, you should look for someone with that type of experience. If you are looking for something contemporary, than choose someone with that kind of reputation.

• What is your design philosophy?
• What are the steps in the design process?

• Schematic Phase - back of a napkin phase, soft line sketches, develop a basic concept for the project\015\012Design Development Phase - refine and fine tune the basic schematic design, start getting project cost budget.\015\012Construction Documents - Working drawing for the permitting, final pricing and construction.

• How will you gather information about our needs and goals?
• What services do you provide during construction?
• What sets you apart from the rest?

• Depending on the scope of your project, you could wind up spending a great deal of time with your architect over a prolonged period time. You want to know that not only is she qualified and competent, but do you like her enough to spend that kind of time together.

• Can you provide of list of past clients and contact information?
• How do you establish fees?
• If the scope of the project changes later will there be additional charges?
